1st Place at the Pellet Stove Design Challenge 2016

ETE participated as "TEAM WITTUS" at the "Pellet Stove Design Challenge" together with DBFZ and "Wittus - Fire by Design". With our "PELLWOOD" stove we won the 1st place! The "PELLWOOD" is able to burn pellets and wood logs and emits extremly low amounts of particulate matter and CO. The "Pellet Stove Design Challenge" was hosted by "Alliance for Green Heat" and NYSERDA and took place in "Brookhaven National Laboratory" in Long Island NY. Next Generation Woodstove Design Challenge 2014

ETE EmTechEngineering GmbH presented the NEKO-catalyst at the "Next Generation Woodstove Design Challenge 2014" in New York/USA (Nov. 4 - 7, 2014, http://www.forgreenheat.org), together with its partners Specht Modulare Ofensysteme GmbH & Co. KG (Specht), DBFZ Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gemeinnützigen GmbH and Wittus Fire by Design.

At this competition the most innovative firing system concepts and emission reduction concepts worldwide were compared. The competition was held at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. The NEKO-catalyst was installed in a modified stove of the company Specht. This combination took second place. press release of the DBU (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt) refers to this competition.

Research activities:

  • Investigation of combinations of electrostatic precipitation and catalytic treatment of exhaust gases from small scale biomass combustion devices; Cooperation project of the DBFZ
  • Screening for catalysts for catalytic treatment of exhaust gases from biogas-driven CHP unit (for reduction of methane slip); Cooperation project of the DBFZ
  • Investigations on microwave-assisted catalytic exhaust gas treatment; Cooperation project of the DBFZ

Development work

  • Development of catalyzers for biomass fired systems, without using noble metals, for xeoos 8kW woodstove, together with DBFZ Leipzig and University of Leipzig, ITC
  • Development catalytic active refractory for woodburning stoves. Together with DBFZ and University of Leipzig, ITC
  • Development of fluidic optimized burning room for woodburning stoves, together with DBFZ and University of Leipzig
